About Dr Salim Parker

Dr Salim Parker graduated with both a science and medical degree from the University of Cape Town. He decided to further his interest in travel medicine and completed a Certificate of Competence in Travel Medicine through the University of Witwatersrand.

He is a General Practitioner with an interest in Hajj and Travel Medicine and engages patients in extensive pre-travel consultations. Dr Parker has been accompanying pilgrims as a medical officer since 2000 and often gives Hajj Travel Talks at Hajj classes in Cape Town.

Dr Parker is currently the President of the South African Society of Travel Medicine and is often interviewed for various publications to impart his vast knowledge on travel medicine.

He is also medical co-ordinator for Jive 10km Big Walk, which is the biggest 10km walk in Africa, with about 20 000 participants annually.
